Some liberal rantings from Liz!

Train travel rocks with a baby - or at least rocks with a liberal baby! Yep- it is true - Zane was a perfect angel on the train to and from Nebraska. He barely cried and enjoyed the view from the siteseer lounge, his coach class seat and the dining car! Diaper changes were quite fun too in the women's lounge - but mommy going to the bathroom holding Zane wasn't that fun! Breastfeeding was alright - although mommy insisted on covering us up with a very warm blanket!

Now for the rant - luckily, Mama Liberal has a lot on her mind and only catches glimpes of the news, the Alito hearings, and all the other shenanigans that Bush and his administration are involved in. She rants a little too much when she does find out about these things and forgets to sing fun songs to baby liberal. She is especially pissed about the new EPA standards for human pesticide testing - Bush wants it to be okay to test pesticides on abused and neglected children without their parents consent and to test them on orphans or mentally handicapped people in the name of research. Liz is waiting to go head to head with conservatives who agree with this - so far everyone just denies it is true and then says that they don't have time to read through all of the new EPA standards. I guess it is okay to hide crap like this in 600 page documents and then get your supporters to feign ignorance because they lack the "time" to read.

Now for some fun songs - Baby Liberal likes this one - to the tune of "Marty Moose" from Vacation...

Who's the Cutest Baby we know? Zaney Codel

And the theme song from Good Times

Good Times - any time you make a payment.

2 months later

OK, the idea behind the blog has been a bit of a fialure since I have not posted in 2 months. I will try and summarize my experiences for the last 2 months.

First, when do we become sleep deprived? We have been warned but Zane has not delivered the sleepless nights. Of course I speak for myself, I am not the milkman. Zane sleeps 8-10 hours a night. He grunts for attention 1-2 times a night usually due to hunger. After he eats he falls asleep so fast that I dont wake him to change his diaper (never wake a sleeping baby, right). Considering he wears cloth to sleep that is pretty great. No diaper rash and no late night changes as well. I think Zanes first sentance will be "Oh boy, sleep...Thats where I'm a viking"

Zane is a great traveler. He has already been through 5 states. That is more than most of Liz's friends in Nebraska combined. He drove to Michigan and recnetly took a train ti Nebraska.

Regarding the train, Liz and Zane left on Monday for Nebraska via Amtrak. I never thought I would feel so alone in my own house. No diapers to change, no baby to hug. I miss his gummy smile.

Zane's newest discovery...his feet.

Zanes favorite team...the Steelers. He roots, they win. See pix on website.

Anyway, I will try to update more regulary so you can be part of Zanes life from a distance. We want him to be close to family when he meets them for the first time. On deck, the Florida Beukenkamps in March.
